Egypt Government Trying to Block Any Recognition of Kosovo Nov 24, 2008

« Egypt's decision in terms of Kosovo passports is in line with the current policy of the state, which has great influence in the Arab world », Jeremic said, adding that his Egyptian interlocutors have confirmed that Cairo "intends to propagate Serbia's view to its partners in the Arab League, the Non-Alligned Movement, the African League, and among Islamic countries".

It will not recognize Kosovo's independence and it will work with us through diplomatic efforts, in particular within the Islamic Conference, where some countries have tried to present the Kosovo case as a religious one and asked for support from Islamic states", Jeremic said.

The truth of the matter, Jeremic said, is that the question of Kosovo is « purely a political question, an ethnically-motivated attempt at secession, against the decision of the UN Security Council ».
